WIN THE WAR  took advantage of a softened-up favorite and blew away the competition in the stretch of the Glorious Song S. at Woodbine. Graduating on debut when favored over the local turf Oct. 20, the $700,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga graduate was made the distant 9-2 second choice in this stakes bow behind 1-5 ‘TDN Rising Star’ Grace and Dignity (Animal Kingdom). That foe was sent to the lead early on, but encountered unexpected resistance from a longshot, forcing the chalk to go sizzling splits of :21.90 and :44.38. Win the War crept up onto even terms at the top of the lane and soon took charge, pouring it on in the final furlong to romp by 11 1/4 lengths in a sharp 1:21.52. Grace and Dignity held for second. The winner is a half to Dixie City (Dixie Union), GSW, $231,980, as well as Union City (Dixie Union), the SP dam of MGSW/GISP ‘TDN Rising Star’ Unified (Candy Ride {Arg}). City Sister is responsible for a yearling colt by Declaration of War named I Declare War and foaled an Uncle Mo filly Apr. 30 before visiting American Pharoah. Second dam Demi Souer (Storm Bird) is a half to champion Dehere (Deputy Minister).Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
