War Front Colt Eclipses Seven Figures at KEESEP

War Front

Hip 467, a War Front colt foaled on Kentucky Oaks day last spring, was knocked down to Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's Shadwell Stable from the consignment of Four Star Sales, agent, for a final bid of $1.3 million Wednesday afternoon. The dark bay colt is the second foal out of Love and Pride (A.P. Indy), who won the GI Personal Ensign S. on the East Coast and the GI Zenyatta S. on the Pacific seaboard before being purchased by Borges Torrealba Holdings for $4.9 million in foal to Distorted Humor at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton November sale. The first foal from the close relative of Bernardini, a colt, fetched $450,000 from Mike Repole/Vinnie Viola at last year's September sale. As yet unnamed, the latter has recorded four works at Belmont Park, including five furlongs in 1:01.55 (4/27) Sept. 9. Love and Pride did not produce a foal this season and was bred back to Pioneerof the Nile.
