Venus Valentine Works Towards Fair Grounds Oaks

Tom Amoss trainee Venus Valentine (Congrats), a shock winner at 74-1 of the GII Twinspires.com Rachel Alexandra S. at Fair Grounds Race Course Feb. 20, worked five-panels in 1:02 even (8/24) there Mar. 9. The Rosemont Farm colorbearer is pointing to the GII Twinspires.com Fair Grounds Oaks slated for Mar. 26. A winner at first asking at Ellis Park last July, Venus Valentine was off the board in three subsequent starts, including a fourth-place effort in the Arlington-Washington Lassie S. in August of 2015 and she filled the same spot in an Fair Grounds optional claimer in her sophomore bow Jan. 8.

“She's doing well,” Amoss commented. “Her work was a lot like her works leading up to the Rachel Alexandra. She seems to be maintaining her readiness. We definitely benefitted from a suicidal pace last time. I don't know if that happens again, but for her to be successful, she's got to make herself a little more tactical. Hopefully she can do that [in the Fair Grounds Oaks.]”
