To Battle

Having warmed up for Sunday's G2 Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft with a return success in the G2 Gerling-Preis over 12 furlongs at Cologne May 8, Gestut Schlenderhan's Ito (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}) bids to see off all rivals from the front again as he did to such dramatic effect in his career-best performance in the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich in November. Forced to carry a six-pound penalty here, last year's impressive winner of this contest is re-opposed by Nightflower (Ire) (Dylan Thomas {Ire}) who he trailed when fourth in the G1 Preis von Europa also over a mile and a half at Cologne in September. Dr Christoph Berglar's Articus (Fr) (Areion {Ger}) beat Devastar (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) in convincing fashion in the Listed Preis von Dahlwitz over 10 furlongs at Hoppegarten Apr. 24 and is one of the remainder most open to progression.
