He stretched out to two turns and broke his maiden with authority over track and trip June 5, earning 'TDN Rising Star' status and getting a 96 Beyer Speed Figure for the effort. Back in just 19 days here, the big gray broke decently at 3-5 and was hustled through at the rail by Rafael Bejarano to show the way heading into the clubhouse turn. Pushed along by Chief of Staff (Majestic Warrior) to lead by half-length through fractions of :23.62 and :47.17, Arrogate began to shake clear from his pursuer past six furlongs in 1:10.72 and opened clear into the stretch. Never seriously threatened after, the Juddmonte colorbearer bounded home 5 1/4 lengths to the good in another auspicious effort. His barnmate Fusaichi Samurai (Street Cry {Ire}) completed the exacta. Arrogate's third dam, Meadow Star, was Champion 2-year-old filly of 1990 and the winner of six Grade I events in her career. “He's made a lot of progress,” said Bob Baffert. “He had some shins, so we stopped on him and the race at Los Al just didn't work out. Today, he didn't get rattled, in the paddock or at the gate. Distance isn't an issue with this horse. When he came back right now, he wasn't blowing at all. We've got a lot of options with him.
