Tapit Colt Runs Away at Churchill for Rising Star Badge

New York Central | Coady Photography

New York Central, a beaten favorite behind a return winner on debut, came back to romp in a graduation effort Sunday at Churchill. Third in his local unveiling Oct. 29 in back of Seven Trumpets (Morning Line), who repeated here Saturday, the $750,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga buy was pounded to 4-5 and came away well before settling in second behind a longshot through a :21.83 quarter. Setting upon the pacesetter three sixteenths from home, the gray soon took charge and ran away powerfully in the final furlong to a seven-length success in 1:09.66. Nola Win (Elusive Quality) was second-best. The winner is a half to Corfu (Malibu Moon), GSW, $214,200; and Runway Ready (Mr. Greeley), SP, $162,200. His dam, a half to MGISW Peace Rules (Jules) and a $400,000 Keeneland November buy for SF Bloodstock in 2014, is responsible for a yearling filly by Orb who sold for $750,000 to Solis/Litt at this year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale. She was bred to Exaggerator this spring.
