Tamayuz's Making Light Takes the Killavullan

Connections of Making Light | Racing Post

Only fifth on debut over this trip on Dundalk's Polytrack Aug. 14, Making Light lived up to her name with an eight-length success over this trip at Limerick Oct. 3 and despite being the sole filly in this line-up emerged best to reward market confidence. Keen in third initially after breaking best of all, the homebred had plenty in reserve for the finish and after gaining the lead with just over a furlong remaining asserted from the late-closing Spirit of Valor and his stablemate Taj Mahal. “She's improving all the time typical of a Moyglare family and the style she did it in at Limerick last time was very impressive,” jockey Pat Smullen said. “This was probably not the strongest Killavullan, but she couldn't have been more professional and quickened up well. There is lots to look forward to next year.” Trainer Dermot Weld added, “She'll start off in one of the 1000 Guineas trials here next spring and that will tell all, but she's a lovely filly,” trainer Dermot Weld commented. “I won this with a filly Big Break two years ago and I thought it was the ideal race for this filly. She won very easily last time, but we were brave taking on the colts and Pat gave her an excellent ride. I'd say she'll be a miler, with maybe a mile and a quarter in her reach.”

Instant Sparkle took four runs to get off the mark, but did so in style by 10 lengths on her penultimate outing over a mile and a half at Dermot Weld's beloved Galway festival during her only season of racing in 2007. She is a full-sister to the same connections's high-class G2 Ribblesdale S. heroine and G1 Prix de l'Opera runner-up Irresistible Jewel (Ire), now the dam of the fellow Ribblesdale winner Princess Highway (Street Cry {Ire}), the G1 Irish St Leger and G3 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup winner Royal Diamond (Ire) (King's Best) and Mad about You (Ire) (Indian Ridge {Ire}) who placed in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas, G1 Pretty Polly S., G1 Moyglare Stud S. and G1 Prix Marcel Boussac. This is also the family of the star middle-distance performer and stayer Profound Beauty (Ire) (Danehill) who descends from the GI Acorn S. winner Aptostar (Fappiano). Still to come from the dam is a yearling filly by Dream Ahead.
