Stopchargingmaria (Tale of the Cat–Exotic Bloom, by Montbrook), a game heroine of last year's GI Breeders' Cup Distaff over eventual champion 3-year-old filly Stellar Wind (Curlin), will be offered at the Nov. 7 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Taylor Made Sales Agency will consign the 5-year-old mare.

Stopchargingmaria recently retired from racing with nine wins from 18 starts and earnings of $3,014,000. She captured three Grade I events–including the GI Alabama S. and GI Coaching Club American Oaks as a 3-year-old in 2014–and finished in the money in 14 of her 18 total starts. The dark bay will be making her second trip to the Fasig-Tipton November sales ring, having been acquired privately by Town and Country from Repole Stable after she RNA'd for $3.15 million at the sale in 2014. Bred in Kentucky by Harvey Clarke & Brookdale Farm LLC., she was also a $47,000 KEESEP yearling and a $220,000 OBSMAR juvenile.

“We struggled with the decision about whether to keep Stopchargingmaria as a part of our broodmare operation or to offer her at public auction,” Shannon Potter, president of Town and Country Racing LLC, commented. “Our main goal is to operate a first class breeding operation which requires diversification among many high end broodmares and we feel selling 'Maria' will allow us the best opportunity to expand and improve our breeding stock.”

Fasig-Tipton President and CEO Boyd Browning added, “Opportunities to purchase a Breeders' Cup Distaff winner like Stopchargingmaria do not come along very often. She has it all–race record, pedigree and conformation. Everyone at Fasig-Tipton is thrilled to offer a mare of her caliber at our November Sale.”
