TAMLEEK (c, 3, Hard Spun">Hard Spun–Tafaneen, by Dynaformer), who reportedly broke a blood vessel when an eye-catching third behind Qatar Racing's Fierce Impact (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) over a mile at Yarmouth in October, was never far from the pace towards the outside. Gaining control while rolling left down towards the rail with 1 1/2 furlongs to race, the 11-4 favourite surged clear up the rising ground to record a convincing four-length success from the dead-heating Mafaaheem (Ire) (Shamardal) and Oasis Charm (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}). “I had a lovely bit of cover, but it went away from me and I was lucky that he is a relaxed ride,” jockey Jim Crowley said. “He got into a lovely rhythm and won nicely. He is definitely going to stay a mile and a half, no problem and there is likely more to come.” Tamleek is the first foal out of a daughter of the GIII Valley View S. scorer Cozzy Corner (Cozzene), who is herself a half-sister to the dual GI Flower Bowl Invitational winner Riskaverse (Dynaformer). That luminary, who also captured the GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, has bred Ballydoyle's smart Say (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), winner of the G3 Dance Design S. who was also third in the G1 Matron S. Tafaneen has a 2-year-old filly by More Than Ready and a yearling colt by Distorted Humor. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $7,475. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
