TANGLED (IRE) (c, 2, Society Rock {Ire}–Open Verse, by Black Minnaloushe), who shed maiden status in a seven-furlong Newmarket nursery handicap last time July 14, was handily placed in the second rank of the far-side group after an alert getaway in this Goffs Premier Yearling contest. Making ominous headway from halfway, the 15-2 chance was stoked up to seize an opening and a narrow advantage entering the final furlong and kept on in game fashion under a late drive to prevail by a neck from G2 Superlative S. third Great Prospector (Ire) (Elzaam {Aus}). “He came here in good form, I was happy enough where he was drawn and happy enough how it worked out on our side of the track,” said rider Sean Levey. “I was a little worried about dropping back to six furlongs, but he did it well in the end.” The £67,000 GOUKPR yearling is out of a half-sister to G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud victor and G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G1 Irish Derby runner-up Polaris Flight (Northern Flagship), and is kin to G3 Golden Fleece S. third Faithful Creek (Ire) (Bushranger {Ire}), a yearling colt by Zebedee (GB) and a colt foal by Kodiac (GB). Lifetime Record: 5-2-1-0, $255,269. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
