Snitzel Sets Juvenile Record

Snitzel | Arrowfield

With the victory of his son Pymble (Aus) in a Newcastle maiden on Saturday, Snitzel (Aus) has set a new record for juvenile winners in a season with 31 (29 in Australia and two in New Zealand). Last season, Snitzel had equaled the previous record of 30 set by Without Fear in 1976. Pymble, who was making his fourth start, is appropriately trained by Gerald Ryan, who trained Snitzel during a standout career that included a win in the G1 Oakleigh Plate. Ryan has also trained many of his top progeny.

Snitzel, who tops the Arrowfield roster at A$176,000 this year, last weekend set a new record for prizemoney earned by a sire in a season at A$13.8-million on a day that he had four stakes winners. Another highlight this season was the trifecta in the Apr. 1 G1 Sires' Produce S., two weeks after he sired the quinella in the G1 Galaxy H.
