Sheikh Joaan Al Thani has added another high-profile purchase to his clutches after it was announced today that the unbeaten Toronado (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) will race in his colors. Having already snapped up another top-class Richard Hannon trainee in Olympic Glory (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}), the son of the Emir of Qatar swooped for the G2 Champagne S. winner, who had earlier also collected the Listed Winkfield S. at Ascot. Assistant trainer Richard Hannon junior told the Racing Post, “Toronado has been bought to race for Sheikh Joaan. He's a very nice horse and the Sheikh wanted a horse for the Classics this year and hopefully that's what he's got. The previous owners [Fiona Carmichael and Chris Humber] are very happy and wish him every success.”
