At New Year’s time, we thought it appropriate to ask our racing community for their resolutions. Each participant was asked for one racing-related resolution, and one non-racing one. Up today: Terry Finley

Terry Finley, President and CEO, West Point Thoroughbreds

John Wooden said, “Five years from now you are the same person except for the people you’ve met and the books you’ve read.”
No industry in the world is populated with as many fascinating, diverse and colorful dreamers as Thoroughbred Racing. In 2018, I intend to meet and get to know more people in this incredible game — the game that gets me up every morning and has made many dreams come true.
In this day in age, sitting down to relax and enjoy a good book can be tough. But, I’m going to make more time to read — at the very least a book a month. By doing so, I hope to become a better father, husband, and friend. Suggestions welcome!
As part of a new generation of leaders in our industry, I resolve to look forward and be the very best advocate I can be. As Socrates said, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
