Ramseys, Maker, Lanerie Win Churchill Fall Meet Titles

Ken and Sarah Ramsey completed a sweep of all three Churchill Downs meet titles in 2016, bringing their owner title total to 28, by capturing six wins at the 21-day meeting. Corey Lanerie secured the jockey's title, his 12th Churchill riding crown, by racking up 31 victories. Mike Maker saddled 16 winners to take home top trainer honors, his fourth Louisville title.

The main track was labeled fast for every day of the fall meet and zero turf races were lost to rain. Field size averaged 8.9 starters, down 5% from the average of 9.4 in 2015, while purses increased 1.9% to an average of $479,290 per card compared to $470,598 last year.
