+ARMS RUNNER (c, 3, Overdriven–Back to Basics, by Alphabet Soup), purchased for $525,000, or 210 times his sire's stud fee at OBS April, showed a strong worktab for his debut and scored a game victory going down the hill at Santa Anita. Capping off his preparations with a five-furlong gate move in :59 2/5 (1/3) at trainer Peter Miller's San Luis Rey base, the grey was given a 49-10 chance and came away well to sit fifth through a :22.42 quarter. Ranging up menacingly three-wide nearing the stretch, Arms Runner encountered a determined foe in Dog Gone Lenny (The Factor) throughout the stretch, but gradually wore that rival down to score by a half-length. The winner is a half to Calculator (In Summation), GSW & MGISP, $484,260. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $32,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
