Pacific Gale first stakes winner for Flat Out

Tobey Morton's Pacific Gale (f, 2, Flat Out–Pacific Whisper, by Forestry) powered past Little Dipper (Eskendereya) late and drew clear to win the Sorority S. at Monmouth Park Saturday and become the first stakes winner for her freshman sire (by Flatter). Sent off at 4-1, the bay filly stalked pacesetting Little Dipper through fractions of :22.14 and :44.95. She collared that foe with a sixteenth to run and sailed home an easy 2 1/2-length winner. Dark Artist (Paynter) was third. Favored Jehozacat (Tapit) stumbled badly at the break and rushed up to chase the early leaders, but flattened out down the lane and finished fourth.
