DELAPHENE (f, 2, Oxbow–Boustierre, by Empire Maker) rallied from off the pace on the Arlington turf to win going away and become the first winner for her freshman sire (by Awesome Again). Taking good support to be 17-10 on debut June 22 at Presque Isle, the Calumet Farm homebred finished an even sixth. Given a 51-10 chance in this grass bow while adding Lasix, the bay settled second-last through the first half-mile. Advancing while saving ground midway on the far turn, she tipped into the clear three-deep approaching the stretch, blew past favored Arabella Bella (Skipshot) soon after straightening and kicked clear to a 3 1/2-length success over yielding ground. The winner's second dam Chaminade (Danzig) is a half to GSW/MGISP Filimbi (Mizzen Mast) out of MGISW and 2001 GI Kentucky Oaks heroine Flute (Seattle Slew). Boustierre has a yearling colt by Birdstone and she was bred to Producer (GB) this season. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $17,205. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
