ORBOLUTION (f, 2, Orb–My Rachel {GSP, $138,285}, by Horse Chestnut {SAf}) failed to live up to her backing in two dirt starts, but jumped forward first time on the turf, finishing full of run to graduate at Saratoga and become the first 2-year-old winner of the meet for trainer Todd Pletcher. Third at 11-10 on debut Apr. 27 at Keeneland, the $370,000 Keeneland September buy filled the same slot at 7-5 in a Belmont off-the-turfer May 25. Made the close 7-2 second choice in this Sunday opener, the dark bay came away well and tracked the pace from the third flight as the field traveled mostly in pairs through splits of :23.81 and :50 flat. Advancing quickly into third at the hedge heading into the far bend, Orbolution awaited room until just outside the eighth pole, where she split horses and kicked on strongly to a 2 1/2-length score over Miss Mo Mentum (Uncle Mo), getting her last five-sixteenths in under 28 seconds despite racing on her left lead. The winner, the third for her freshman sire (by Malibu Moon), is kin to a pair of stakes-placed turf runners. Her graded stakes placed turf dam is a half to GISW turfer Jack Milton (War Front) and GSW grass runner Peace Preserver (War Front). My Rachel is responsible for a yearling City Zip filly and foaled a filly by Declaration of War Mar. 15. Lifetime Record: 3-1-0-2, $65,800.
