Tinners Way, multiple grade-I winner and the last colt born of Secretariat, died July 5 at Old Friends, the farm announced Thursday. The 27-year-old had recently battled the onset of severe neurological disease.

Tinners Way captured the GI Pacific Classic in 1994 and 1995 and the GI Californian S. in 1996.

“We are so saddened by the loss of Tinners Way,” said Old Friends's Michael Blowen, “But its times like these that you really see how much we can do for these old horses…He had so many friends from all over the country that visited him often. He leaves behind a great legacy and a host of adoring fans.”
