Nyquist 'Doing Well' Following Colic Surgery

Nyquist | Benoit

Nyquist (Uncle Mo), the 2015 champion 2-year-old and this year's GI Kentucky Derby hero, is doing well following colic surgery Thursday at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, it was announced Friday afternoon.

The Reddam Racing colorbearer was retired to stud in late October to Darley in Lexington, Kentucky. He will command a $40,000 stud fee in 2017.

“The surgeons discovered a slight twist in his intestines during the procedure and were able to make the necessary repairs without complication,” Darley COO Dan Pride said. “At this point, we are confident that he will be fully recovered and ready for the 2017 breeding season.”
