Ice Breeze, who was untested as a juvenile, debuted with a second going 10 1/2 panels at Saint-Cloud Apr. 11 before breaking through upped to 12 furlongs back there May 1, and lined up for this coming off a second in the G3 Prix du Lys back over that course and distance May 23. Shuffled back to enter the home straight in last place after running third through halfway, he responded to increased rousting to challenge entering the final eighth and was pushed out to narrowly deny Prix du Lys third Shakeel for a career high nearing the line. “He's a horse we've always liked and has improved from race to race,” commented trainer Pascal Bary. “When there is good pace in the race, like there was today, he is better off coming with a late run and that is exactly what he did. He has a very good turn of foot. All being well, he will return in the [July 14 G1] Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris [at Saint-Cloud].”
