More Than Ready Colt Makes Good on TDN Rising Stardom in Bashford Manor

Looking to recapture the form that earned him 'TDN Rising Star' status is his debut win over the track, Sir Truebadour earned his graded stakes badge with a confident score in the GIII Bashford Manor S. at Churchill Saturday. Sent to the front by Ricardo Santana Jr. soon after the start, the dark bay reeled off crisp opening splits of :21.35 and :45.63. While his nearest pursuers receded, Sir Truebadour kept on finding more, and was clear turning for home. Kept to the task at hand late, the $300,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga grad has something left in reserve and crossed the wire two-lengths clear of longshot closer Mr. Chocolate Chip.

“Steve [Asmussen] and his team did a great job with this horse,” Santana said. “It was a great win today. He is very fast early and got the lead nicely out of the gate. He got a little tired late but held on nicely to win.”

Following his impressive debut win May 17, Sir Truebadour finished fourth–beaten by two lengths–in Belmont's Tremont S. June 8.

“We aimed to this race since he broke his maiden,” said winning trainer Steve Asmussen, who was collecting his record-equaling fifth win in the juvenile test. “It's great to win a graded stakes race. He got a little tired late but it was a great win.”

Pedigree Notes:
Kivi, dam of the Grade I-winning full sibling to Sir Truebadour Regally Ready, is out of Group 3 winner Vilikaia, who placed in G1 irish 1000 Guineas and the G1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp. The daughter of Nureyev is a full sister to Group 2 victress Navratilova and a half to G1 Prix de la Salamandre heroine Maximova (Fr) (Green Dancer). The latter is responsible for Group 1 winners Septieme Ciel (Seattle Slew) and Macouma (Mr. Prospector) in addition to graded scorer Maxigroom (Blushing Groom {Fr}). Kivi produced a colt by Kentucky Derby hero Nyquist.
