Mohaymen (Tapit), the undefeated early favorite for the GI Kentucky Derby, has apparently exited his decisive tally in Gulfstream's Jan. 30 GII Holy Bull S. in good order. Shadwell's $2.2-million KEESEP yearling breezed four panels in a bullet :47.75 at Palm Meadows Friday and has the GII Fountain of Youth S. back in Hallandale next on his agenda.
“He worked great,” offered trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. “I was looking for a little bit slower work [Friday] just because we're not looking to go fast. But, he did it easy. He started off like :12 4/5 and then he just picked it up on his own and finished great. He went in :47 3/5, but didn't look like he went that fast. We're very happy. He wouldn't blow out a match after and came back great.” He added, “We have one more work next week and on to the Fountain of Youth. He's just doing great. We're very happy.”
