Military Attack (Ire) (Oratorio {Ire}), the 2013 Horse of the Year in Hong Kong, was scratched Wednesday from the Dec. 11 G1 Longines Hong Kong Cup after failing to sufficiently recover from a leg injury sustained when a first-up third in the G2 Longines Jockey Club Cup at Sha Tin Nov. 20.

A Group 1 winner in Hong Kong and Singapore and runner-up to Designs On Rome (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) in a thrilling renewal of the Hong Kong Cup in 2014, Military Attack went to the sidelines last May with a left front suspensory issue, the South China Morning Post reported. The veteran of 44 career trips to the post ran on well to be third in the Jockey Club Cup, but was reported to be lame in his left front after the race. The 8-year-old was given an entry for the International Races, but ultimately could not recover in time.
