Sign, overlooked as a 10-1 chance debuting under Rosie Napravnik, was away a step slowly from her rail draw, but was soon rating along in fourth while tucked in behind the leading Honor Bright (Pleasant Tap). Tipped four wide as they stacked up at the 3/16ths pole, Sign took a bit to switch leads, but once she did, she burst away with good energy to win by a widening 11 3/4-length margin. Honor Bright held for second. Sign is the second foal from the stakes-winning 9-year-old Cross, who has a Arch yearling filly and foaled a colt from the first crop of the connections' star Blame (Arch) this year. Cross is a half-sister to Arch's GII American Derby winner Lattice. Sign's fourth dam Alluvial (Buckpasser) produced GI Belmont S. winner Coastal (Majestic Prince) and his dual champion half-brother Slew O' Gold (Seattle Slew). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $48,000.
