Ripples N' Waves reported home a well-beaten fifth going six furlongs in his Gulfstream bow Mar. 12. Stretching out to a mile here for a barn which hits at 39 percent second time out, the 5-1 chance raced under a tight hold while stalking in second through a half mile in :47.26. The flashy chestnut revved up to challenge for the lead as Edgar Prado took a peak back on the turn for home, and impressively spread eagle the field in the stretch to win by a geared-down 6 1/4 lengths. Magnificent Moon (Malibu Moon) completed the exacta for his sire. Riley Mangum also owned and bred the winner's second dam, MGSW Alcovy (Salutely). Sales history: $30,000 RNA yrl '09 KEESEP.
