  GOODWOOD, Race 14, Mdn, 5,500, 2yo, 7fT, 1:27.40, gd

  Workforce (GB), C, 2, by King's Best

1st Dam: Soviet Moon (Ire), by Sadler's Wells
2nd Dam: Eva Luna, by Alleged
3rd Dam: Media Luna (GB), by Star Appeal (Ire)

Workforce enjoyed crowd confidence and dominated the closing stages of this opening show to earn 25-1 quotes for next year's G1 2000 Guineas and G1 Epsom Derby. The bay homebred raced under cover in rear through the early fractions. Coaxed closer once into the home straight, the 3-1 pick scythed through the pack to challenge approaching the final eighth and powered clear under whipless encouragement in the closing stages to defeat Oasis Dancer (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) by a highly impressive six lengths. "We were expecting a good run and he has done it nicely, especially considering that he was drawn [one] in the car park," Sir Michael Stoute's representative Jimmy Scott told PA Sport. "He is such a gentleman and has a great nature. I imagine that he will run again somewhere this season." Jockey Ryan Moore added, "He felt very nice and has done it well. He is a very straightforward horse and, all being well, will make a nice three-year-old." Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £3,562.
