  SAINT-CLOUD, 3.50, Mdn, 22,000, 3yo, c/g, 1mT, 1:58.30, vhy

Wifi (Ger), C, 3, by Pivotal (GB)

1st Dam: Welimina (Ire) (SP-Fr), by Sadler’s Wells
2nd Dam: Mabrova (GB), by Prince Mab (Fr)
3rd Dam: Makarova, by Nijinsky II

Wifi started as the 10-3 favorite for this newcomers’ event, but those odds were made to look generous as the grey made light work of this first trip to the races. Settled close to the early pace out wide, the homebred made smooth progress to lead approaching the quarter pole and asserted his superiority under a hand ride before being geared down for an easy 2 1/2-length defeat of Kougouar (Fr) (Verglas {Ire}). Conditioner Carlos Laffon-Parias is sweet on the striking colt. "You never know until they actually run, but this horse has shown great things in his morning work and I would have been disappointed if he hadn’t won," he said. "I will go step by step and I will not rush him back for his next run. He is in all the Classics and I hope that is where he will eventually end up." The winner’s dam is a half-sister to champion Kistena (Fr). Lifetime Record: 1 start, 1 win, Eu11,000.

O: Wertheimer et Frere | B: Wertheimer et Frere | T: Carlos Laffon-Parias
