The Roundhouse, a half to Circular Quay (Thunder Gulch), GISW, $1,177,434, looked like a spitting image of his older brother here, posting an eye-opening unveiling for the Jersey Shore faithful. The chestnut posted a good four-furlong breeze in :47 1/5 over the Keeneland Polytrack May 1, but didn’t reappear on the worktab until a pair of Belmont breezes June 5 and 11. Hammered down to even-money, The Roundhouse struggled to keep up with his rivals in the early stages after breaking from the one hole despite the urging of rider Chris DeCarlo. Sixth through fractions of :22.32 and :46.13, the Michael Tabor colorbearer began to hit his best stride when taken off the rail on the turn for home and came flying down the center of the lane in the stretch to win by an expanding 1 1/2 lengths. Unbridled Wish (Unbridled Time) completed the exacta at odds of 13-1. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $21,600. O: Michael B Tabor | B: Chelston (KY) | T: Todd A Pletcher |
