The word was out about Henrythenavigator and it may be significant that Aidan O’Brien introduced Landseer (GB), Spartacus (Ire) and Antonius Pius in this maiden. Hammered in to 4-5, the bay, a full to Queen Cleopatra (Ire), GSW & G1SP-Ire, G1SP-Fr, $274,652, broke well from his wide draw and led after the first furlong. Minimal encouragement saw him stride away from his field at the quarter pole to win unchallenged by seven lengths from Dick Morris (Ire) (Kalanisi {Ire}). "He looked nice and is a Royal Ascot type," O’Brien commented. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, Eu11,747.
