Mount Nelson (GB), C, 2, by Rock Of Gibraltar (Ire)

1st Dam: Independence (GB) (MGSW-UK, $135,424), by Selkirk
2nd Dam: Yukon Hope, by Forty Niner
3rd Dam: Sahara Forest (GB), by Green Desert

Mount Nelson found only the experienced Treasure Map too strong on debut at Gowran Park 16 days ago and was expected to show the benefit of that outing here when starting as the 2-1 crowd’s choice. Always in the front rank, the 320,000gns TATOCT yearling strode on passing the three-furlong marker and needed only hand riding to lengthen to a six-length defeat of Tamimi’s History (GB) (Kalanisi {Ire}). "He’s a horse to look forward to next year," trainer Aidan O’Brien told Irish Racing Online. "He’s entered in [Saturday’s] G1 Criterium International, but it’s possible that could be him for the year." He becomes the 15th winner for his freshman sire (by Danehill). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, Eu15,910.

O: Derrick Smith | B: Cliveden Stud Ltd | T: Aidan O’Brien
