Like an Eagle was dismissed at debut odds of nearly 20-1 over 6 1/2 furlongs May 18, but outran that number to be second by 3/4 of a length. Void of early speed after breaking from the 11 hole, the bay commenced a rally while stuck very wide on the far turn. He sustained that run impressively, accelerating nicely in the stretch, and went on to defeat Prince Trieste (Old Trieste) by 3 1/2 lengths as the 9-5 favorite. The winner was produced by a half-sister to his connections’ talented sprinter Chindi. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $21,600.
