1st Dam: Sterling Pound (GSW-US, $152,018), by Seeking the Gold
2nd Dam: Spectacular Bev, by Spectacular Bid
3rd Dam: Bev Bev, by Nijinsky II

Cross Channel took part in a hot Newmarket maiden on debut July 15, winding up a gallant third to Star Cluster (GB) after cutting out the early fractions. Sent off the even-money favorite to become the third winner to have emerged from that race, she took command early before being wound up approaching the final quarter. Relentless on the uphill climb, she was hand-ridden to score by 2½ lengths from Shortest Day (GB) (Zafonic), who was eighth in that Newmarket class-fest last time. The winner is a half to Exchange Rate (Danzig), GSW-US, $479,803; and Sabre d’Argent (Kris S.), GSW-GB, $114,297. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, £5,548.
