The international significance of the G1 Melbourne Cup, with the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy on display, will be celebrated by the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) at the Spring Restaurant in London on the eve of Royal Ascot. Dignitaries from the world of racing, business, and government, including the Lord Mayor of London, will meet for a luncheon highlighting the close relationship between Australia, Ireland and the UK at Somerset house around midday on June 18. Hosting the event will be VRC Chairman Amanda Elliott with Ken Ryan AM Agent General to the United Kingdom and Commissioner of Europe for the State of Victoria.

“With a strong focus on relationships across business, lifestyle, tourism, trade and racing, this occasion will highlight and celebrate the cultural, social and economic links that already exist between our nations, and importantly the opportunities we can all explore for the future,” said Elliott.

Ryan added, “I congratulate the VRC on launching this event in London. There is no doubt that the Melbourne Cup Carnival has become a week of international significance, as well as an important platform to build relationships, foster trade and deliver investment outcomes. The VRC has always been active in its international marketing but this event, along with its other initiatives, gives us a wonderful opportunity to further develop the already strong business, political and community ties between us.”
