'TDN Rising Star' Mastery (Candy Ride {Arg}) looks to take his record to a perfect two-for-two in Saturday's GIII Bob Hope S. at Del Mar. Trained by Bob Baffert, the Cheyenne Stable colorbearer takes the blinker off after a decisive 4 1/4-length debut victory at Santa Anita Oct. 22. Baffert also saddles Bernin Sensation (Bernardini), who missed by a nose behind the reopposing Ooper Wallah (Congrats) in his Aug. 26 unveiling here and broke through next out at Los Alamitos Sept. 24. The bay finished a non-factor sixth behind California Diamond (Harbor the Gold) last time in the Speakeasy S. in Arcadia Oct. 16. Never worse than second in seven career starts, Rockingham Ranch's California Diamond captured the Santa Anita Juvenile S. and Barretts Juvenile S. prior to his win in the Speakeasy. The Peter Miller pupil followed that success with a short odds score under a very confident ride in the Golden State Juvenile S. last time Nov. 5. Rounding out the quintet is Reddam Racing's Ann Arbor Eddie (Square Eddie), a 4 1/4-length debut winner against state-breds at Santa Anita Oct. 29 for Doug O'Neill.
