Though he has yet to officially commit to the race, trainer Chris Waller certainly seems to be leaning in the direction of declaring 'TDN Rising Star' From Within (Aus) (Not a Single Doubt {Aus}) for the A$2-million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast Jan. 14.
“She's done everything right [since her win at Canterbury], which is obviously what we were waiting to see in terms of making a decision whether she goes forward to the Magic Millions.” Waller told Racing.com. “At this stage, there is nothing to suggest we shouldn't be going, but I just want to see her work well over the next few days, and please me in the stable and on the training track. If that's the case she'll take her place in the Magic Millions.”
Sent off the long odds-on favorite for her Dec. 31 debut at Canterbury, the A$360,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling graduate jumped well from the inside post and kicked away in the lane to score by a geared-down 1 1/4 lengths. Still, Waller is in no apparent rush with the filly.
“The horse comes first. It's not just the Magic Millions we need to worry about, and it's also other races as a 2-year-old, and then longevity as well,” Waller told Racing.com. “As much as it would sound silly, if I said there's plenty of races like a Golden Slipper, that's probably as true as it is. You don't make horses get to Golden Slippers or the Magic Millions, they'll win you whatever they are going to win. There will be people that disagree, but that's how I treat horses. If and when they are ready to race, I'm sure there is always a big race wherever it may be. Look after horses and they'll look after you.”
From Within is trading as ante-post favorite for the 2YO Classic, with Hugh Bowman likely to take over from Glyn Schofield.
