+SANTINI (c, 3, Maclean's Music–River Glow, by In Excess {Ire}) finished strongly to get up late in his career bow sprinting on the Gulfstream turf. The chestnut showed some speedy breezes in preparation, including a best-of-34 bullet three-furlong spin from the gate at Palm Meadows in :36 1/5 and a five-panel move over the turf there in 1:00 flat (3/14) Jan. 9, and was let go at 49-5. Away well, Santini dropped back to run sixth behind the speed of Category Two (Tale of the Cat) through a :21.77 quarter. Inching up along the rail on the turn, he shifted four-deep in early stretch and overhauled the pacesetter with 50 yards to go despite running a bit greenly to score by three-quarters of a length in :56.58. The winner's dam was bred to Wrote (Ire) in 2016. Sales History: $100,000 Ylg '15 OBSAUG; $25,000 2yo '16 OBSOPN. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,800.
