Low Key Session Concludes Magic Millions

Following a dark day on Monday the final day of selling at Magic Millions January on Tuesday saw the session split into two parts; Book 3 Yearlings followed by the Gold Coast Summer Racehorse Sale. The yearling section was brief with only 52 lots catalogued. Eight withdrawals and six RNA's meant 38 lots found new homes with a top price of A$40,000 achieved. This was for lot 1020 , a son of Pierro (Aus) with Magic Millions as agent signing the docket for the Widden Stud consigned colt.

Part two was even shorter with only 14 lots catalogued in the Summer Racehorse Sale. With three outs and one lot failing to meet it's reserve, ten horses changed hands for an aggregate of A$95,500 giving an average of A$9,550. The sale topper was Murder Of Crows (Aus) (Flying Spur {Aus}) lot 1114, the last lot into the ring, who fetched A$18,000 from Magic Millions acting as agent. The 6-year-old gelding is a three time winner and he brought the curtain down on a highly successful week of trading on the Gold Coast. The combined three books of yearlings ended up grossing over A$26m more than last year, albeit with a larger catalogue. Nevertheless, the clearance rate remained healthy at 12% and further proof of the strength of the Australian bloodstock market is the fact that nine more horses than last year made over A$500,000.
