Legal Eagle Sold Privately

Legal Eagle | Liesl King

Mayfair Speculators' six-time South African Group 1 winner Legal Eagle (SAf) (Greys Inn) has been sold privately and will remain in the care of trainer Sean Tarry, Sporting Post reports. Legal Eagle's new owner is Braam van Huyssteen with Brisbane-based partners William Henderson and Hedley McGrath. Van Huyssteen has around 175 horses in training and will aim to win his first Group 1 win Legal Eagle, who is set to try for a three-peat in the G1 L'Ormarins Queens Plate in early January.

The news of Legal Eagle's sale comes while Mayfair Speculators frontman Markus Jooste is, according to Reuters, embroiled in accusations of accounting irregularities of Steinhoff International, the international retail holding company from which Jooste resigned as chief executive earlier this month.
