Highlighted by a six-stakes program June 24, Laurel Park will offer 21 stakes worth a total of $1.6 million during its summer meet, which opens June 9.
The 33-day meet will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Aug. 20. Racing shifts to the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonimum Aug. 25-Sept. 4. The recently-concluded winter meet at Laurel saw total handle, in-state handle, average daily handle and export handle all increase more than 20%.
“We're looking forward to the summer meet at Laurel Park,” said Sal Sinatra, President and General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club. “We have a competitive stakes schedule, a world-class turf course that will attract large fields, and we continue to get great support from horsemen throughout the country.”
