Lane's End Announces 2018 Stud Fees

Honor Code | A. Coglianese

Officials at Lane's End have announced the 2018 service fees for its 15 stallions, including young stallions Honor Code (A.P. Indy) at $40,000 and Tonalist (Tapit) at $30,000. The 2018 roster also includes two newcomers in GI Cigar Mile H. winner Connect (Curlin), who will stand for $20,000, and MGSW and 'TDN Rising Star' Unified, who will stand for $10,000.

Unified is a son of Lane's End's perennially prominent stallion Candy Ride (Arg) (Ride the Rails), who is also the sire of MGISW and leading GI Breeders' Cup Classic contender Gun Runner. Candy Ride will have a stud fee announced at a later date, while successful young stallions Union Rags (Dixie Union) and leading fourth-crop stallion Quality Road (Elusive Quality) also have fees that are yet to be announced. Union Rags has enjoyed success as the sire of GI Claiborne Breeders' Futurity winner Free Drop Billy, while Quality Road's Abel Tasman has won four Grade I events, including the Kentucky Oaks.

Among the farm's other up-and-comers are Liam's Map (Unbridled's Song; $25,000), Noble Mission (GB) (Galileo {Ire}; $20,000) and Mr. Speaker (Pulpit; $10,000).

“Continuing to find racehorses who turn into successful stallions is what the breeding business is all about,” said Lane's End owner Will Farish. “It is satisfying to know that we are offering a roster with a blend of young stallions proving their abilities, new stallions who possess a world of potential, and our firmly established stallions.”

As has been the case in recent years, the success of Candy Ride is supplemented by the presence of his son Twirling Candy, who will stand for $25,000 in 2018. Also available for $25,000 are veteran stalwarts Lemon Drop Kid (Kingmambo) and Mineshaft (A.P. Indy). Not on the roster is The Factor (War Front), who will stand in Japan in 2018 before returning to Lane's End for the 2019 season.
