La Verdad Entered in Fall Highweight

Multiple graded stakes winner La Verdad (Yes It's True) will make her next, and possibly final, career start in the GIII Fall Highweight H. Thursday at Aqueduct. The Lady Shelia Stable colobearer annexed Belmont's Iroquois S. Oct. 24 before wheeling back on seven day's rest to finish second in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Oct. 31.

“We were very happy,” trainer Linda Rice said. “There were a lot of tough decisions for a couple weeks going into Showcase Day and the Breeders' Cup. With all the moving parts–the Breeders' Cup payment because she wasn't nominated, the seven furlongs, facing the colts or the fillies–after all was said and done we were pleased with the path we chose.”

As for Thursday's start, Rice explained, “Cutting back to six furlongs is obviously a good thing for her. Against the colts, it's questionable. Last year didn't go well for us [when La Verdad finished seventh in the Fall Highweight], but I think that she's in much better form right now.”
