A $4.325-million stakes schedule for Keeneland's 2017 Spring Meet, featuring 16 stakes races led by the Apr. 8 $1-million GII Toyota Blue Grass S. and GI Central Bank Ashland, has been announced. Purse money for the GIII Stonestreet Lexington S. Apr. 15 and opening day GIII Transylvania S. have both been increased by $50,000. The 15-day Spring Meet, to be held April 7-28, will offer racing Wednesdays through Sundays except Easter Sunday, April 16.
“Keeneland receives loyal support from owners and trainers across North America, and we are proud to once again feature such a rich and diverse stakes schedule,” Keeneland Vice President of Racing and Sales Bob Elliston said. “We continue to pursue initiatives to provide an exceptional racing program for horsemen and competitive wagering opportunities for fans.”
Other Grade I highlights include, the GI Madison S. Apr. 8, the GI Maker's 46 Mile S. Apr. 14 and the GI Coolmore Jenny Wiley S. Apr. 15.
