Starlight Racing's Itsaknockout (Lemon Drop Kid–Stormy B, by Cherokee Run), winner of last term's GII Fountain of Youth S. via DQ, has been retired from racing. The 4-year-old fractured a sesamoid in his left foreleg during the running of Friday's GI Maker's 46 Mile, in which he finished sixth.

“He came back fine and then this morning we discovered that he was lame,” Starlight founder Jack Wolf told the TDN Saturday evening. “He sustained a fractured sesamoid in his left front and unfortunately we are going to have to retire him. Right now, it's anticipated that surgery will not be required, but we have decided to go and ahead retire him and hope to find a farm for him to stand as a stallion. He will rehab at WinStar.”

Opening his account with a pair of wins at Gulfstream last term prior to his run in the Fountain of Youth, Itsaknockout was given time off after the GI Kentucky Derby and closed out last term with an impressive optional claimer win back in Hallandale Dec. 31. The bay, who was fourth in the GI Donn H. and fifth in the GII Gulfstream Park H. prior to the Maker's 46 Mile, retires with a record of 9-4-0-0 and earnings of $398,010.
