IFHA Conference Set For Oct. 8

IFHA Chairman Louis Romanet

The 52nd International Conference of Horseracing Authorities will take place on Oct. 8 in Paris, France and will cover a range of topics including strategic measures to stimulate turnover; the health, welfare, and safety of jockeys; and rules harmonisation.

The morning session will focus on wagering, with discussions including harnessing technology and measures that can be taken to increase field sizes. The session will be led by Hong Kong Jockey Club Chief Executive Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.

The focus of the afternoon session will be divided between jockey welfare, which will be chaired by Denis Egan, CEO of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board, and rule harmonization, led by Kim Kelly, the HKJC chief stipendiary steward and chairman of the IFHA harmonisation of raceday rules committee.

“Horse racing executives from more than 50 countries will be in attendance this year,” said IFHA Chairman Louis Romanet, who will lead the conference. “Bringing together people from so many regions is a key to progress, as we all are striving to improve our sport.”

A live video stream of the Open Forum of the International Conference of Horseracing Authorities will be available on the IFHA's website. A replay of the live video stream and presentations will be available in the days following the event.
