Hong Kong Trip Planned For Cirrus

Corine Barande-Barbe | Racing Post

Cirrus Des Aigles (Fr) (Even Top {Ire}) will be back on his travels soon as trainer Corine Barande-Barbe outlined a trip to Hong Kong in December for the 9-year-old following his respectable fourth place in Sunday's G1 Prix Royal-Oak at Saint-cloud. Cirrus Des Aigles finished fourth in last year's G1 Hong Kong Cup but his target this year will be the G1 Hong Kong Vase over a mile and half, a race won last year by fellow French runner Flintshire (GB) (Dansili {GB}). “He has come out of the race well and enjoyed his canter this morning,” reported Barande-Barbe on Monday. “He has had a summer break this year so he is fresh – I know the horse well. He ran in the Hong Kong Cup last year but his target will be the Vase this time around.” Though he has run a few below par races this year the trainer has no firm thoughts on retiring Cirrus Des Aigles and added, “He will decide whether he stays in training next year and will tell me when he is not enjoying it.”
