TOMYRIS (GB) (f, 3, Invincible Spirit {Ire}–Totally Devoted {SP-Ire}, by Seeking the Gold), one of the homebreds to emerge from Nurlan Bizakov's operation which he purchased in 2010, was fourth on debut behind Wednesday's G3 Nell Gwyn S. winner Daban (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}) in a seven-furlong maiden at Kempton in November and was held on to early with one behind. Making her move down the centre of the track and under hands and heels, the 11-4 joint-favourite managed to overhaul Spinnaka (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) with a furlong remaining before drawing away to win comfortably by 1 1/2 lengths. “We've always thought she was quite a nice filly and she was quite green on debut, but had been training well this spring,” trainer Roger Varian said. “She has a turn of foot and showed that today. [Jockey] Silvestre [de Sousa] thinks she'll stay a mile, but whether we need to go to that straightaway or not I don't know. It is nice for the owner that his homebreds are now coming through.” The winner is out of a listed-placed half-sister to the G1 St Leger hero Rule of Law, who was also runner-up in the G1 Epsom Derby, and also to the GII Churchill Distaff Turf Mile runner-up Dame Marie (Smart Strike) and to the dams of the G3 Sweet Solera S. third Wedding Ring (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris runner-up Migwar (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}). Also from the family of the G3 Prestige S. scorer Circle of Gold (Ire) (Royal Academy), Totally Devoted who was purchased by Charlie Gordon-Watson for $590,000 at Keeneland the year that Bizakov bought the distinguished farm has a 2-year-old filly by Intello (Ger) named Tolkyn (Fr). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $6,908. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
