Hansen Colt Delivers in the Spiral

Fast and Accurate | Coady

Fast and Accurate continued his upward progression with a 24-1 shocker here.

Off the mark in a $30,000 tagger going a mile here Dec. 4, the grey made it two on the bounce with a wire-to-wire score in the Sage of Monticello S. over the Gulfstream grass Feb. 2. Not given much support at the windows to make it three in a row in this GI Kentucky Derby prep, the Mike Maker trainee stayed near the front in third while saving ground as stablemate En Hanse (Hansen) showed the way through a half-mile in :46.36. Shifted to the outside and edging nearer on the final bend, Fast and Accurate seized command turning into the lane and held firm to the wire, fending off the late rush of fellow longshot Blueridge Traveler.

Pedigree Notes:

Fast and Accurate becomes the third stakes winner and first graded for 2011 champion 2-year-old colt Hansen, now standing in South Korea. It's Heidi's Dance, a maiden of four career starts and $8,000 2005 KEENOV purchase by Halvorson Bloodstock, has also produced a 2-year-old colt by Liaison and was most recently bred to Conveyance. It's Heidi's Dance is a half-sister to graded winners Bwana Charlie (Indian Charlie), Bwana Bull (Holy Bull) and My Pal Charlie (Indian Charlie).
