Hall of Famer Inside Information Passes Away

Champion Inside Information (Private Account-Pure Profit by Key to the Mint) passed away Saturday, Oct. 14 from natural causes at the age of 26 at Claiborne Farm.
Racing in the famous red and black silks of Ogden Phipps and trained by Shug McGaughey, she won 14 of her 17 starts and never finished worse than third in her career, good for earnings of $1,641,806. She won six Grade 1 races including the Shuvee H., Ruffian H. and Spinster H. and capped off her career with a 13 1/2 length romp in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff en route to Champion Older Mare honors in 1995.
Following her career, she retired to Claiborne Farm, where she was born, and went on to produce multiple winners, most noticeably Smuggler (Unbridled), who was named Champion 3-Year-Old Filly in 2005. She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2008. She now has a graded stakes race named in her honor run annually at Gulfstream Park. She will be buried at Claiborne's Marchmont cemetery.
