Northview Station announced yesterday the passing of its resident stallion El Padrino (Pulpit-Enchanted Rock, by Giant's Causeway). The graded stakes winner was euthanized Nov. 22 after a series of bouts with colic and subsequent surgeries at New Bolton Center. Campaigned by Let's Go Stable and trainer Todd Pletcher, the chestnut won three of eight lifetime starts, including the 2012 GII Risen Star S. Retired to Northview with earnings of $326,770, the half brother to Grade I winner Verrazano (More Than Ready) proved popular as a stud in Pennsylvania, ranking at the head of the Mid-Atlantic regions freshman sires.
